Latest information on the new Aeroport de Brive - Vallee de la Dordogne
The new airport at Brive, originally to be called Brive–Souillac, is located at Nespouls and is due to open in June this year (2010). At the moment, there are no plans for a low cost operator to begin services from the airport, although apparently talks have been held with Ryanair.
The following flights have been announced:
Paris – Orly
Due to start in June 2010
Daily flights to Paris Orly with prices starting at 66€ on way, although if you book via the Air France UK site it is shown as £49 on way.
London City
Seasonal service starting on 25 June and currently with the last flight being on 12 September. Prices from 140€ one way
Daily flight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, taking 1hr 40 minutes
Brive is a very convenient airport for the north of the Midi-Pyrenees region, plus Dordogne and Limousin. A low cost operator would be very welcome, but with Ryanair already flying to Limoges. Bergerac, Bordeaux, Pau Carcassonne and Rodez, it seems difficult to see where a flight to Brive would fit in. Maybe it would be more suitable for easyJet to start a service.
